Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a game I have had for my Switch since I got it back in 2017. I have played it on and off for the last 5+ years to varying degrees of enjoyment.

Sometimes I'll have a real ball with this. I'm not normally one for slapstick nonsense, but Rabbid Wario constantly had me chuckling whilst playing. Other times this was a real chore. I was not a fan of some of the boss fights, and the final boss I must've attempted 4 or 5 times before I beat it, and even then I had a slither of health on my remaining character. I can't believe Mario and Yoshi died defeating Bowser.

I enjoy these type of tactical combat games in small bursts. An hour here or there. The good thing with this one is it doesn't go on too long in the grand scheme of things and there's also some hub world stuff to break up the gameplay.

There was one constant throughout that was always entertaining, and that was the unmistakable sound of Grant Kirkhope's score. I like how his own style blends so well with some of the original tunes from the Mario games. You can tell that a lot of fun was had with the development of this game. I just wish I had as much fun as the people that made it.

That being said, I am interested in trying the new one. Hopefully it won't take me another half decade to get through that one.
