Top 50 Favorites: #38 (Bundle of Terror)

Grabs you by the neck and chucks you right into the shit - one series of unapologetically twisted, grisly horror setpieces right after the other. A tentpole from possibly the best era in horror video gaming: no ruinous attempts at self-seriousness undercutting the terror or "graphical fidelity >> gameplay" bullshit (still looks great though) - just brutal, nasty fun from start to finish that lets its sick imagination do all the talking. I'll be honest, part of me is kind of glad that the whole battery/light dying gimmick for these sorts of games died out (no pun intended), but it's not done badly here. Brisk and scary, hard but never really unfair. Resonates the same sort of energy as having your head bashed against a brick wall.
