Just adding here my review of this game/DLC I did for Pokémon Violet, as it's basically the same and I played both:
Whatever they say, this was fun! C'mon. Of course, it should be included in the base game and not as DLC but having finished, I can tell it was a good closure for Gen 9 games. One merit: the level of the difficult double battles! Damn. That made it both fun and annoying (one gets used to beating everyone so fast in Pokémon games). I like the story and enjoyed the funny Epilogue at the end, coming back to Kitakami. The new monsters are cool, Terapagos and the extra paradoxs pokémon. OHH and I appreciate they included Meloetta! First time I had the chance to catch this mythical pokémon by myself besides Pokémon GO (the other Meloetta I owned were from official events therefore not caught by me). I also like the idea of the Terrarium and all the references to Unova. What can I say, GEN 9 wasn't perfect by any means but I had a lot of fun.

Yeah, you're right! At the beginning I didn't like the idea that from now on we'll only get DLC's, I was the guy who always bought the third game (Yellow, Crystal, Ultra Sun/Moon, etc.) and kept it as their "main game" among the series. But well, the way it works grew on me, it was great in SwoShi and now with Scarlet/Violet, a fantastic extra pair of episodes to finish the story and have more fun. Now, probably the problem is that they actually "finish the story". Otherwise these games feel a bit incomplete (although I do have a lot of fun with them). I guess the best would be to have them with a real, decent ending and then get the DLC as an extra part and real-real ending lol. Anyhow, keep 'em coming! Can't wait for the next game :)
