I have found it hard to get into this generation having started with Pearl back in 2007. I grew up with gen 1 and 2 having loved them both. I tried gen 3 and beat it but felt unfulfilled. But gen 4 had me excited. One of your starters could be a freaking penguin, I was sold. But when I picked it up I just couldn’t get into it. I beat it and again felt unfulfilled. So I quit Pokémon for a few years. I bought heart gold when that came out and loved. I beat it all the way through and enjoyed it so much. So I was excited to play platinum. The graphics were great, the music tracks were great,I enjoyed the design of the new Pokémon. But the game still felt bland to me. I found myself uninterested in what I was playing he gym leaders seemed uninteresting, the story of team galaxy was uninteresting and when the game was over I felt bland. The lack of a lot of end game content also was a let down. There are things to do like catch legendaries and a battle tower but I just didn’t care. The game felt like a chore to play for me. I know this is a lot of people favorite gen but for me it doesn’t hit that way. Despite that, I’d say it’s worth checking out.
