When I heard they were making a Pokémon for the switch I was excited! All the possibilities, fresh ideas, and new Pokémon. I saw what they did with Mario and Zelda and could only imagine what they would do with Pokémon. I saw the first trailer and my expectations dropped. I didn’t like the starters design. The London concept seem cool and it looked like a possible open world Pokémon. Then I got the game. Pokédex controversy aside I wanted to give it a shot.

Man this the most linear, soulless and lazy Pokémon game. (I did not play gen 6 or 7)

The story is generic and I mean generic by Pokémon standards. The gym leaders with the exception of a couple are dull. Some of the new Pokémon designs are great but the gameplay is the same dang thing. Just with the added ability to make Pokémon grow in certain battles. The open world section is fun. I like seeing Pokémon out in the open and I liked doing raids with randoms. But when I was done. I felt sad and disappointed that I had funded such a lame game. Then the dlc was announced and I was curious. I read reviews and people said they were good. Got the dlc and I must say I enjoyed them both! Fun plots, fun new characters, new Pokémon and variations. It was fun. You can tell they put time effort and heart into. But for a 90 dollar experience? Come on. Your the Pokémon company you have the money and resources. You can do a lot better. Hopefully scarlet and violet will be good but with this current track record, I’m cautious.
