The initial hype for this game's release was crazy. I wasn't nearly as excited for this than I was Mario Odyssey, but it was up there. Some of my most wanted inclusions were added, like King K. Rool, Ridley, Simon, n.. not Waluigi thouigh he was ljke the main one but whatever. Yet as I played it longer the less excited it made me. Of course I'd always tune in for a new character reveal, but it didn't have the same hook and grasp on me like it used to. I've tried to think of WHY but I can't think of it. Was it the inclusions?.. the lack of much new content apart from mechanics at launch?

It's easy to pop in and have fun with friends from time to time to relive the glory days, but when I'm alone and go to play online, the incentive they added to WANT to play only makes it more daunting and difficult for me. There's more weight to losing and more pressure to win. I spent so much time on Wii U because I'd play a few meaningless online matches and dip. But with Ultimate I'm like ok I wanna play snake but he's in elite smash anbd I dont wantr to lose that if I fuck up because I dojt feel likemtrying hard but Ill HAVE to becasdue everyone else in eletie smsahs IS. fine I'll play Luig-- NEVER MIND HES A FEW POINTS AWAY FDROM BEING ELITE SO IF I LOSE ILL GET PISSED AND IF I WIN I CANT PLAY HIM CASUALLY AGAIN. probab;y a me thing but I'vwe notioced the general decrease in hype awhile back. my personal gripe with how online is handled is a me thing yeah but I can't be thje only one

I ALSO HATE THE DLC CHATAVYER SPECIAL TREATMENT WHY DOES DONEKY GRUNT LIKE A MONEKY BUT THE DLC CHARACETRS ARE LIKE THE TRUEST FORM OF WHAT THEY REPRESENT, LIKE BOWSER IS WHAT SAKURI WANRS HIM TO BE BUT MINECRAFT STEVE IS STRAIGHT UP THE BEST INTERPRETATION OF WHAT THE CHARACTER ENTAILS AS A WHOLE SHUT THEFCICMUP

Ultimate didn't have many new fighters at launch due to it's enormous scale, which is entirely understandable. But even so, I was starving for new fighters and when jonkler was teased I was excirted. prior to his announcement I never even played a persona title nevertheless I was still excited just to see a brand new character in this game. Hero was leaked befoore the direct so I expected him to show up and wasn't very excited or surpised. but in the same direct Banjo showed up and surprised the fuck ouit of me. I was NOT expected that. and in the same direct they reveealed 'BOTW 2' no less. Terry was cool, I always love to see fighting game rep in a smash game. I love taking a moveset and translating it to a different game, similar to how they tackled akuma in tekken or ryu in ssb4. Byleth fucking sucks I was floored when i watched that reveal. I was in fucking 2nd period math class and couldn't believe my eyes.
Overall it was solid. Really strange and unexopected chopices that really don't have much chemistry with each other, but variety.
