The leveling system and the physics are janky af but god damn this might be my second favourite Yakuza (after 0).

I think its thematically the most resonant story in the franchise. "The Song of Life" is essentially about parents/older generations imposing their problems on their children/younger generations. I mean some 100+ year old dude who was a general in WW2 is trying to have a baby killed.

I like that, this is ultimately a conflict that affects even the older characters. Kiryu is a grandfather yet thr crux of the story's drama happened long before his birth. The 80 something year old Beat Takeshi still has daddy issues with the 100 something year old Iwami over stuff that happened in post nuke Hiroshima.

Its also exactly what I wanted out of Yaluza after 4 and 5. A more grounded personal story about Kiryu rather than some massive ineligible conspiracy that lasts 50 hours. I like the tone downed scale.

Solid ending too, i'll gladly admit I cried to it.
