As impressive as Lies of P is for a Soulslike from an independent studio, one question remains for this kind of game: How much inspiration is okay until it becomes unoriginal?
Lies of P is essentially just Bloodborne down to the gameplay and the mechanics surrounding that, the narratives, the themes and motives, even the philosophical questions asked ("Is the purpose of life to become god or the dwell in blissflus ignorance").
The problem where the relevance of the question of inoriginality intensifies is that Lies of P is everything mentioned but worse than Bloodborne. The gameplay is punishing but at the same time very unprecise so that it becomes unfair, the narrative is way more plumbly delivered therefore doesn't carry the same weight. And all this comparison could have been avoided if Lies of P had been its own game with its own voice and ambition rather than a "Bloodborne with Pinocchio-characters"
