It feels weird to give a game an 8/10 and say "I was disappointed," but honestly...I was kind of expecting to like Alan Wake II a bit more. The first game is one of my all-time favorites and I was pumped for the move to survival horror, but while I liked the game a lot, it felt lacking in some areas.
Like yes, there was plenty of creativity to the writing and attention to detail, but the gameplay didn't grip me nearly as much as I hoped it would. I almost feel like I enjoy it more as a "work of art" than as a "game," and that's kind of upsetting. It's still very good, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if it's a game I'll return to super often in the future.
