As someone that played the original Destroy All Humans and its sequel to death on PS2 back in the day, honestly this is one of the best game remakes I've ever seen. As far as staying true to the original but improving it making smart changes, Destroy All Humans Remake is a slam dunk.

There's so many little changes they made to the remake to simplify things and make the game just smoother and more fun to play. It puts actions on single buttons that required multiple before. You can hover, aim and shoot, use PK abilities all at the same time and it just works so well. No more concentration meter. It takes mechanics from the sequel and retro fits them to the original. As far as added content, they added a bunch of new side missions which are quite fun if not spectacular.

At the end of the day it's still essentially the PS2 original and certain things haven't been changed or modernised. But that's fine. I didn't expect much more than the same game but with a visual bump going in so for so much of the game to be improved was quite impressive to me.

It's a really fun game and I definitely think for the most part effectively replaces the original, which is the best I can ask for from a remake.
