did you play on a review copy? i've heard the final boss was significantly more difficult before official release. in particular, one attack pattern with three hits comboed into itself and dealt 6000 damage in its second phase. i haven't reached the end myself but i've heard it's still ridiculously hard despite being tuned down from the review copy, so i won't be surprised if you did play on the current patch.
