What a sequel! I think we are in one of those cases where the sequel is just as perfect as the original. Portal 2 takes everything that made Portal so great, makes a few additions and give you and delivers an amazing game.
The gameplay is just as fun as the first one, and they even add the “gel” mechanics which are fun to play with.
The music, I think, is even better here. I think Portal 2 uses a lot more of ambient music, specially in action, escapes or scary scenes. And, of course, the ending song "Want you gone" is another instant classic, just as "Still alive".
Storywise, this game deepends what we learnt on the first game. I really enjoyed all that GLaDOS, Cave Johnson and Caroline bits of story. Once again, they don’t give you a full explained story of what happened there, but you get to actually see it, and get the pieces together between what you see in-game and what GLaDOS and the rest tell you.
The dialogue is perfect, just perfect. I had so much fun actually listening to every line of dialogue from GLaDOS, Wheatley, Cave Johnson and Caroline. The pre-recorded messages from Cave Johnson are hilarious. JK Simmons did an amazing job there.
Visually, I loved all those monumental scenarios of Aperture where you fell so very small. I think they did an amazing job designing those spaces, using fog and shadows to trick you into thinking that those areas are infinite. Also, I loved the offices and closed areas, they reminded me a lot of the workplace of the TV show “Severance”.
So, in the end, Portal 2 is another perfect game. Fun to play from start to finish. For me, is one of those games that I keep played every once in a while, because even if you rememeber, for example, how to solve a puzzle, it’s still fun to do it again and again. And if you don’t remember (I actually didn’t remember some of the puzzles, since I played it years ago) you get to discover them again.
