No slide puzzles - 4/5

Since I grew up as a fearful little Christian child, I never tried the OG Silent Hills and Resident Evils. To this day I've only ever played RE 4, and even that was played recently. So I was worried going into this that a lot of the subtitle nods and gameplay elements would go over my head.

They did not.

This game visually, mechanically, and through fantastic story telling kept me playing for almost 8 hours straight. And while reading in games usually drives me to boredom, the lore and world this game builds is captivating and rich. Same for the brilliant puzzles, never in my life have I felt smarter than when I solved some of the puzzles, all of them clever, unique and just abreact enough to make you think outside of the box.

The story may be abstract as well, but as abstract as some of the greatest sci-fi fiction. Arrival, Annihilation, and 2001 a Space Odyssey (Ok, maybe not that abstract). If you're a fan of science fiction, I can't recommend this game enough. I can only hope more games take place in this clever world.
