I've had this game on my phone, and Steam for a while, for years and have been addicted to it on and off, yet I can't call it an actually good game. Both the problem and the reason why I like it is classic Klondike solitaire, the kind you'd play on your dad's Windows PC when you were a kid and which is also where my love for the game grew. Klondike is inherently broken and kind of bad game in that it's not always solvable due to the card layout and how it's possible for the cards to stack in such a way that there are no viable plays, and the big problem with Solitairica is that it does nothing to mitigate this. It's the most heinously unfair game I've sunken a lot of hours into, and I both despise and love it. I am addicted to the basic Klondike loop, improved and expanded with the additional roguelite structure with gaining coins and trying to upgrade your passive items, but the matches so often end on some frustrating bullshit that I can't recommend the game to anyone.

Not only can you get stuck in frustrating situations where there are no plays to be made as the enemy pummels you with extremely damaging attacks as you draw unplayable card after unplayable card, but they've made it worse by also not really mitigating how the enemy AI is allowed to behave. It can and will stunlock you by launching the same stunning attack multiple times in a row, so that you can't do anything because the only option you have besides playing basic Klondike is throwing spells and stuns stop you from making any moves for an entire turn. The enemy can and will stun you for several turns at a time if it feels like it, which I presume that the developers thought was a minor nuisance but is actually devastating and can be the entire and sole reason you lost. There is even one asshole enemy that gets to stun you so you can't do anything and also he poisons at least one of your cards, which is piercing damage that ignores any and all armor you may have prepared. This enemy is literally allowed to do unavoidable, unstoppable damage as there is no trinket or spell that counters stuns. You get to just sit there and take with no recourse, and that feeling is extremely common in this game. The deck and the enemy gets to do whatever it wants with no mitigation or control, and you're stunlocked into oblivion and feeling like smashing every phone in the vicinity to make sure no one accidently plays this game again. And then I take the next long commute a few weeks later and I'm back to playing this game...

So, when the game is fun and is going well, it's a 5/5 for me, but then you eventually and inevitably get to the fight in the run where the game decides that it's time for you to get shit on and the game drops to an insufferable 1/5 that I can't stand and I won't touch it for a few weeks after that.
