I never got the chance to play the original as a kid. It had always caught my eye, and I always wanted to play it, but I just never got around to it. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have liked it that much as a kid since I didn't like turn based RPGs as much back then. But with this remake, I decided to finally give it a go.

This game was everything I had hoped it would be and more. The aesthetic, the witty dialogue and jokes, the charm, the settings, literally everything. It just like, lit up a part of me that I haven't really seen much since I was a kid. I was just so invested in everything going on, and on all the characters.

And then there's the music. THE MUSIC. Incredible. I had heard a few tracks from the original over the years, and just about every single song that I had heard was greatly improved if you ask me. Also the insane variety of music. From what I understand, there's just a ton more music, sometimes in new parts, or multiple more tracks in existing parts. The different battle themes for each chapter is a really nice touch and is so much more fun than what the original had. Along with the dynamic music all throughout the game, it makes for a game where nothing really gets old by the end of the game.

And hey, I heard they even got rid of some of the backtracking, which is really nice! Yeah there's still a fair amount, and probably my biggest complaint with the game, but like, I dunno. The only time I found it at all cumbersome was for side content, and it wasn't even that bad for me anyways.

So yeah, I absolutely adored my time with this game, and I'm so happy to finally have played it. I'm really glad this remake was my first experience with this game. It's an incredible remake, and I've just completely fallen in love with it.
