Horrid's Point & Click Recs

Nothing like a great story mixed with (usually) bad puzzles. If that's your kinda thing, have I got a selection for you!

The Secret of Monkey Island
The Secret of Monkey Island
The big one. If it weren't for The Secret of Monkey Island, this genre might not've been as fondly remembered.
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge
Worse puzzles, funnier writing. I really like the hand drawn backgrounds. The ending sucks and I will die on that hill.
The Curse of Monkey Island
The Curse of Monkey Island
My favorite of the original three Monkey Islands. The hand drawn 2D animation is still as charming as ever, and the first time we ever got to hear these characters speak.
Grim Fandango
Grim Fandango
My favorite of the entire genre, hands down. This game has so much going for it, from it's film noir influences to it's day of the dead influences. One of, if not, Tim's best.
The Neverhood
The Neverhood
A surreal stop motion wonderland. With a seemingly empty world to explore and with little to no dialogue, The Neverhood is an experience you'll never forget.
Day of the Tentacle
Day of the Tentacle
A silly follow up to Maniac Mansion. Besides some small callbacks, you'll be fine just playing this one on its own. Laverne is my spirit animal.
Sam & Max Hit the Road
Sam & Max Hit the Road
A little rough around the edges, Sam & Max's first outing in the world of video games is fairly funny, and fairly memorable.
The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead
Stretching a little bit, but I love this game too much to not put it here. If the ending doesn't at least make you teary eyed, then you're probably a monster or something.
Puzzle Agent
Puzzle Agent
Also a stretch. I love these two games, they introduced me to Graham Annable's Grickle universe and I've never been the same since. A lot of Twin Peaks influence in this one if you're into that kind of thing.
Puzzle Agent 2
Puzzle Agent 2
A fantastic follow up with even better puzzles than the first game. Although maybe answers a few too many loose ends from the first game.
Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk
Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk
Definitely nowhere near as brain taxing as some of the other games here in terms of puzzles. Still, your brain will be rushing with some of this game's symbolism, I promise.
