All reviews are, of course, only one individual's experience with a piece of art. For this review I want to stress this point in particular because it is very possible that I was the problem with Promesa. If you read this, please check it out for yourself, dont let me scare you away.

Conceptually, I should have loved Promesa. An artsy, meditative visual experience, exploring fragmented, disconnected environments. Drops of memories in an ocean of darkness an old man shares with his grandson.
But I did not find the angle to pull myself in. Every level is just a "space" - there is no storytelling, nothing to see, it is purely vibes - and you explore them in the, no hyperbole, lowest movement speed I have every experienced in a video game. And I understand and respect that this was the intent, this is the experience, and I applaud it. I love it in theory.
But in praxis that was simply not enough for my ADHD brain to stay focused and invested. I mentally drifted off and ultimately took very little with me once the credits rolled
