why does the chicken have a kill counter

Club Penguin’s Pizzatron 3000 prepared me for times like this

NOTE: This review is targeted towards the 2019 base game, excluding any further expansions later added to the game.

After ~43.6 hours of playtime on record (according to Steam's tracker), I've done one complete 100% run of Blasphemous, completing most of the side-quests in the base game, say for the few which I missed the conditions for. For a rather inexperienced studio such as "The Game Kitchen", the end product is a tremendous feat for everyone involved in it's creation. Throughout the game, you follow the "Penitent One" on his quest to complete his given penance. The people living in this world, titled Cvstodia, are deeply in belief of the "Sorrowful Miracle", an omnipotent and invisible force that dictates the lives of several people. A great aspect to it's worldbuilding is that the Spanish developer draws inspiration heavily from a great number of events from Spain's deeply religious history. As many have stated previously, the world of Blasphemous has frequently been described as "macabre", which is a pretty spot-on description of it's morbidly extravagant art direction and rather bleak (in a good connotation) tone and worldbuilding. The moment-to-moment combat feels intrinsically satisfying, having all the hallmarks of a great 2D action-platformer (interesting build possibility, permanent upgrades ect.). The thing that bugs me is the overarching level structure (feeling a little too basic for a metroidvania, though it was the developers first attempt at this), the fact that a great deal of narrative beats are delivered through a bit redundant item descriptions and a weird indescribable, and yet evident, sense of "jank" in some of it's aspects. Then again, certain subplots regarding certain bosses are delivered very well through those same redundant item descriptions. As for the main theme of the game, it goes a long way to sell you the struggles of your protagonist's penance, sometimes killing you in comedically innovative ways, forcing you to get better and watch your step the next time around. I'm yet to go through the game's two expansions, which I've been told solidify the core of what makes this game enjoyable. To conclude, I'd recommend this game to anyone who's in need of a fun and VERY affordable metroidvania that offers great replayability and rewards for players seeking a challenge and, despite this game's shortcomings, I'm most excited to check out The Game Kitchen's further titles.

"SUMMA BLASPHEMIA"

Why is there a boss with a larger and pointier hat than mine fuck this game

i'm glad i gave this one another chance because it turned out to be a very cute & short metroidvania with some unique mechanics. i'm also glad i played this on 3DS with the 3D on bc it gave the mechanic you enter the background of the game a special charm

An RPG that is set in real history that has no wacky woohoo magic and monsters? The novelty of that alone takes this game along way.

if garlic smells like garlic, and the goddess smells like fish (pussy)
would you get garlic butter fish?

Garlic butter fish is one of the best fish recipes, pan-fried with garlic butter sauce. This garlic butter fish recipe takes 20 mins. Serve alone or with pasta for a wholesome dinner.

This Garlic Butter Fish recipe is just like the ones served at seafood restaurants, except that it’s homemade and much cheaper.

The dish is perfect as a main course; it also pairs well with a simple pasta dish.

1. Cut the fish into pieces, not to thin for easy pan-frying. Season the fish with salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Coat the fish with corn starch. Set aside.
2. Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce by mixing all the ingredients together. Set aside.
3. Heat up a skillet (preferably non-stick) on medium heat. Add the cooking oil and once the oil is heated, pan-fry the fish in a single layer until both sides turn crispy and golden brown. Use a wooden spatula or tong to gently flip the fish over. Try not to break the fish.
4. Remove the fish from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Toss the fish with the Garlic Butter Sauce and serve immediately with lemon wedges.
