I'm generally not all that into "cinematic style" AAA games these days but I overall had a good time with Control. I think it's overall aesthetic and choices on how to play out it's walky cinematic moments makes it pretty neat instead of annoying.
The flow of combat is nice and stays tense. I could probably see it getting tiresome of it if I did every once of content instead of mostly just B lining through the campaign. I do wish there were more boss fights that didn't just feel like stronger and spongier regular enemies. There was a pretty cool/unique boss enemy in one of the side missions and I don't understand why there wasn't more like that in the main campaign. The biggest thing I couldn't stand was the interact button and weapon switch being bound to the same button with no way to change it. I got messed up a good few times when I didn't realize I switched guns while collecting stuff. Speaking of collecting stuff, I really didn't care for the looting aspect. Ideally if this gets a sequel, that will get removed and they'll just focus on making the skill tree more robust in it's place.
I should probably also mention that while I really enjoyed the atmosphere the story creates and a handful of the characters, I'd be lying if I said, I have more than a vague idea of what's going on in Control's plot. You can really feel the game asking you to explore all the content and read all the reports etc but I'm not that dedicated to the Control grind. I'll probably come back for the DLC content soon though.
