Since it's release, there have been better RPGs than Final Fantasy VI. It's not a perfect game. However, Final Fantasy VI is one of the most impressive games I have ever played. It's represented fairly well by it's final boss theme, Dancing Mad. It's basically a meme by now how people describe Nobuo Uematsu's work on Dancing Mad as "painting the Sistine Chapel with crayons," but it really is true, and the same is true of the game as a whole. The fact that Squaresoft was able to create such a magnificent and timeless game on the Super Nintendo is mind-blowing, and it's influence is still seen in games today. If you love video games, you owe it to yourself to play Final Fantasy VI.
