Disappointment is the only word I can think of. At this point last year, this was looking to be the best game in the series in a while. Boy weren't we fooled? EA tried chasing trends modern trends of wacky and chaotic fun like what COD and Fortnite are doing and it backfired immensely. Battlefield has always been known for its grit and separate ways anybody can play. That is all out the door here. Specialists are a joke and nothing feels like it matters when you play each one since everybody is just sniping away on the super mediocre and monotonous maps, also mainly because the gun selection is trash too. Battlefield 4 had dozens of guns in each category to choose from. In 2042, it feels like there are about a dozen in total. All EA had to do was take Battlefield 4 and build off of that and they would be in the green in the long term. Instead, it's one of the saddest excuses for a game from EA and DICE that I have seen, and that is saying a lot.

DISCLAIMER: This mainly focuses on the main story and world of the game and not GTA Online.

There's a reason why this game keeps selling. It is an absolutely remarkable achievement in open-world action. The world of San Andreas is brought to life in such a way that it feels as real as the state it is parodying. I also never thought I could feel sympathy for a group of murdering robbers either but yet when the credits roll, I almost couldn't help but cry. This game is a classic in every sense of the word and deserves everybody's playtime.

Did you enjoy Jak II, even with the god-awful checkpoints? Take that game and crank it up to 11. Everything from Jak II is refined in 3. Checkpoints that make sense, new areas, another great story, and desert driving. What more could you want? Personally my favorite Jak game.
