I stayed up till 5 am playing this game non stop because it's so fun. There's some weird pacing stuff where it's basically impossible to backtrack until the end but other than that a remarkably solid entry into the Metroid series. So much to love about this game from the power ups to the melee counter to the presentation. ZDR isn't a static environment which makes it all the more interesting to come back to a place and have it be different in both appearance and traversal, to the point where sometimes I didn't even recognize that I'd already been through this area. Samus controls like a dream and combat is snappy, cinematic, and fun. EMMI encounters bring a new type of interaction with your environment which really adds slot to the game, and they never feel unavoidable but they're still stressful to deal with. I haven't been around since the first Metroid game but the story was great, with a nice ending. Overall, highly recommend for fans and newcomers.
