A fascinating game that tries to do so many unique things, and unfortunately the incredibly gripping narrative can't save it from the absolutely abysmal forced SRPG segments. They are painfully boring, long, and repetitive. They have effectively zero redeeming qualities, other than the fact that if you turn the difficulty all the way down you can watch something else while doing them.

ALL THAT BEING SAID, the actual story is cool as fuck.

Also obvious praise to Vanillaware's breathtaking graphics that have never looked better. I also appreciate the departure from the fantasy style that has gripped them for like a decade.
