I really wish this game were actually functional because I find it fascinating how well it emulates a weird generic fantasy world while still having some degree of charm from the first game. Even the music's nowhere near as good as people suggest. It's fucking weird feeling this genuinely disappointed in a game. Often when I do feel disappointed like this it's over a game that didn't already captivate me or have my attention on any level. Even when I played through Phantasy Star II, as shitty as that was, I didn't feel disappointed so much as confused. This broken game, though... man. It's hard to even find the words. Anyway, I guess I'll just skip over to Mana 3 now that I've spent 2-3 months deciding to finally drop this.
