Borderline impossible to rate this. Even though I have given it 4/5 this is a 5 star game, or at least Majora's Mask is a 5 star game, not necessarily the 3D version. It's kind of like how Deadly Premonition is a 5 star game despite being really terrible, except this isn't really terrible.
The side stuff in MM is absolutely second to none, it's wonderful, I'd argue it is the star of the show! There is something so eerie about getting to know the town and it's people, helping them and then it all being reset. It's hard to pinpoint what is so special about it so I won't bother!
I think the first dungeon and the lead up to it are great, I love being a deku scrub and the monkeys are awesome. The second dungeon is okay, just fine. I hated the third dungeon and while the band stuff is quite cute it is nowhere near as interesting as the side quest stuff, so when it's the main quest I just go hmm would rather not be doing this!
I got to the final area and totally ran out of steam, I just did not want to carry on playing, I watched a YouTube video of the ending and called it a day. Majora's Mask is a truly amazing piece of work, I am so so glad that it exists and it is one of the most interesting Zelda games. I also have not finished it and I don't know if I ever will!
