(This is the English translation of my Spanish review of this game)

What an incredible and artsy way to tell a classic revenge story. I LOVE when games manage to have incredible gameplay and tell a story in tandem. In peace. In unity. As it should have always been.

I definitely have a soft spot for 80s aesthetics and pixel art, so when a game combines the two, I fall totally in love. Having said that, it was still a bit of an acquired taste. The gameplay is quite fun, but it’s very difficult at first. Being a game that must be played 100% with mouse and keyboard, it has a rather steep learning curve. The cool thing is that when it clicks, IT CLICKS HARD.

I also really like its style of telling the story through small snippets of dialogue, dream sequences (or not), and very short and to-the-point cutscenes. It reminds me a lot of Scarface, and I think there are a couple of references that probably influenced my subconscious because I can’t pinpoint them exactly haha.

The music is a complete trip and adds a lot of reality to the protagonist’s decaying psyche. I find it very accurate and cool that there is a move where you throw an empty gun at an enemy as a last resort. There are masks, floating heads, lots of bullets everywhere, a high score system that somehow never gave me more than a B+, and plenty of meditation on the meaning of life and the significance of things. It makes you think about the meaning of life and normal stuff like that which today's video games are about.

In short, 5000 hours of EDM out of 5 🎛️🎛️🎛️🎛️🎛️
