there is absolutely 0 way this game is worse than fucking sonic 1

(but that says nothing about quality by year or any nonsense like that. that's just saying that sonic 1 especially sucks ass)

Sonic 1 is mid but I'm guessing this doesnt have the marble zone theme so I'm afraid sonic 1 clears

Sonic 1 had less glitches, consistently better music (though Marble Zone’s music does suck), the gameplay shifts weren’t broken, most of the stages weren’t boring (once again, Marble Zone), the bosses aren’t artificially long, and it feels like actual people made it. This feels like what an AI thinks 2D Sonic is. Don’t waste your time defending mediocrity. You’re better than that
