The best thing here is easily its gameplay: moving around the city is never not fun, and the combat is really fluid and dynamic. Despite that it's not perfect, there's a really sudden difficulty spike after the second third of the game, and the bosses only consist of repeating a pattern over and over again. As for the narrative, the story is nothing out of the ordinary, but it serves its purpose and has some really powerful moments. Also the characters shine a lot, this version of Peter and MJ are pretty solid, and the two main villains are also really well fleshed out and I love how their motivations intertwine. Anyways, it's not a perfect game by any means, but it definitely deserves its recognition as a modern classic.
