This game's basically Castlevania 3, but more streamlined, which I think it's its biggest strength. I feel like it's inferior in many ways though, for example the monster design is all over the place, you either have classic Castlevania-looking monsters or just cool, modern anime-style ones, this is specially noticeable as you progress in the game and half of the bosses are of the latter kind. There's also a weird obsession with tight platforming in the last levels. It comes with a cool concept, but this game having clunky jumps and slow walking speed makes them more of a chore than a challenge. Also, I get that every character is kind of a copy of the guys from Castlevania 3, but if you're not called Miriam or Gebel you're bound to be borderline useless. Zangetsu is ok, but he has really short range, and Alfred just straight sucks, his special attacks are mostly useless and he barely has a health bar.
I may sound like I hate this game, but that's not the case, I just wanted to point out the bad aspects, cause everything else is pretty solid. It's got a lot of replayability and it's a pretty decent game to finish in an afternoon. I don't think I'll pick it up again any time soon, but it's fine nonetheless.
