I wanted to like this more. FF Origin is a game that picks the formula of some of my favorite games, and while it adds some FF flair to it, like a really good and expansive job system, at the end it fails to surpass any of these games. The main issue I personally have with it is that it's way too rough, both with its visuals and its controls. It has performance issues, and the resolution seems to nosedive at some scenes making the game look rather ugly. Also, while I found the combat enjoyable, I feel something about it never clicked with me and it always seemed off.

The level design is very uneven, with some really good stages and others that made me question a lot of decisions with the game. The vast majority of the boss fights were really good, and I think they were the highlight of the game in general, especially as it was nearing the finale. The story itself was alright, very backloaded, I liked the ending, but the twist seemed kind of obvious, and I don't think it justified the lack of substance for the rest of its duration.

Overall, I enjoyed my time with it, but not something that left me a strong impression.
