Even though I never played a Metroidvania before this one, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown sets the bar incredibly high for any other Metroidvania's I decide to play in the future.

The game is flashy, fluid, and energetic with each encounter and ability you obtain. The bosses are ambitious and even when losing, makes it fun to encounter them again and again to learn their patterns and think of creative and unique ways to use your abilities to avoid their attacks. Without getting into spoilers, the end game bosses made me engaged the entire time and wanted to prove my skills each time I gained a new one, not to mention how cool it is to manuever through attacks which feels like I'm watching an interactive anime.

Speaking of anime, the cutscenes definitely capture that vibe of fast and aggressive attacks with lots of energy behind them, and we can see Sargon overcome his foes in the coolest ways imaginable.

Gameplay is swift and smooth and is built around your abilities. And for action, the player actually has to be careful in certain encounters as the combat focuses on 1-on-1 instead of hordes which really punishes you for rushing in and thinking with your fists instead of your brain.

My only con is that the music was so bland and boring and at times in certain areas, there's no music at all.

But overall, it's a great game, even if it's not the Prince of Persia game fans were wanting/expecting
