I once played this game in a foreign language I was studying to try and improve my reading skills. I don't think I missed a beat of dialogue, and it's not because I understood the language particularly well — every line of this game is just that etched into my memory.
Yes, I'm biased, since the Generation III games came out when I was a kid. But I love Hoenn's diverse locations, the cool, uber-2000s character designs, the music, the secret bases and of course the Pokémon. (Blaziken for life.) I loved playing this in the back of the car as my mom did errands, and I loved staying up to train just a little more. I loved playing this game on plane trips. In fact, my brother and I lost our copy of 'Emerald' along with a GameShark on a plane. Oops.
I have no idea how many times I've played this game, but I know I'll probably play it again someday.
