As this is a 100 hour long game I in no way can get across all of my feelings in a review that does the games length justice.

However in short, I thought this was a fantastic game with a great suite of characters inhabiting an interesting and developed world. I was initially overwhelmed by the scope on offer as my previous experience with the series is just Persona 3 Reload which is a smaller scale title in comparison to this.

I think it's a credit to the writers of this game that for me personally I did not feel as if there were ever any pacing problems which is remarkable considering it's length. I would compare each palace and it's associated period of time in the games plot to a season of a television show with threads running through each "season" as the game moves on.

From a gameplay perspective I found the palaces to be vastly superior to Tartarus from P3R. Tartarus had a tendancy to feel repetitive due to each theme carrying through 30 odd floors with minimal change. Here each palace is a fleshed out dungeon. Not that this game doesn't have Tartarus at home in the form of Momentos.

Overall, I would say that I believe P3R was a superior title. For me, the narrative, the characters and the finale of that game help it just edge past P5R, however, it is a close call. I also thought that P5R hit a bit of a difficulty spike when it came to facing Yaldabaoth which nearly resulted in the television being lobbed out the nearest window. However, no doubt this was a skill issue. But it was just the overall game leading up to this I found fairly easy so it was a noticeable shift for me.

I am thou, thou art I. Buy this and play this game as soon as possible. Onto Persona 4 Golden we go....
