Vankino is very quick-paced and fun (also on the short side), the over the top cutscenes are worth it alone, but the gameplay is the biggest highlight

The way Sam Gideon smokes a cigarette in the most life threatening situations is just full of the exaggerated swagger of an ARS operator with a nicotine addiction
This had no right being as good as it is. Creative setpieces and setting in general, compelling story, extremely satisfying gunplay, gorgeous graphics. This game pretty much has it all even if it's at times throwing you into frustrating situations (a problem made worse in the sequel) and has some bad modern concessions like a skill tree, though they at least had the sense to make you unlock stuff through completing interesting gameplay challenges instead of getting XP.
For my money, the best Mick Gordon soundtrack.

Didn't turn out to be that scary once you figure out the AI and realize how easy it is to sprint past certain sections with little resistance. Story is somewhat interesting at least and I liked exploring the area for the most part.
