We've have bolt cutters, f*ck the government!
Alan Wake II is a damn good sequel and a true next gen video game. Developers have been saying next gen this next gen that. All they really mean is they have proprietary SSD technology that makes their loads seamless. Alan Wake II looks fantastic; there are worlds on top of worlds, high fidelity graphics, and mind bending visuals. Remedy truly worked their magic making this truly next gen.
Saga's Bright Falls is this glorious small town with beautiful forests; Alan's Dark Place is this surreal nightmare version of New York. It's truly glorious and no game comes close.
I could go on and on about the visuals but there is more. The narrative and story telling matches this game's graphic fidelity. Excellent performances across the board. I'm glad I took the time to get well immersed in this game.
The Achilles' Heel to this game would be the combat. It's standard and basic, shine them with light then blast 'em. I played on hard so I got more of a placebo effect out of it. I died quickly which made combat encounters more hectic and tense, the sound design really gave the game an extra punch.
I enjoyed hanging out with Max Payne and got a kick out of the name Zane being used a lot. Truly a great video game!
