As someone who found the first game to be alright (some cool ideas with eh execution), I'm shocked with how amazing this game turned out to be. Built upon the ideas of the first game in so many new fascinating ways in regard to the narrative and the gameplay; so happy about the shift to survival horror! I can't wait for AW3, this is a game I'll be thinking about for a long time.

Yea man, the story here is amazing and I'm still wrapping my head around it. Just the way it was structured and presented was crazy. My only real complaint with the game is minor but I wish it was harder. Maybe because I play a lot of horror games on hard mode but here I found myself not to be struggling much as I would have a ton of ammo and health resources. They definitely should have thrown a bit more combat encounters in some sections too. Regardless still GOTY material for me.
2023 has been an amazing year for video games, and still need to peep some stuff from this year. I think my favs would be dead space remake then RE4MAKE then this game but considering those titles are remakes I wanna give the GOTY title to AW2.

@Spiderboi late reply but yea the story is impressively perfect. It for me surpassed my 2 previous favs SH2 and RE4 Remake. All perfect games.
Which I didn’t even think would be possible but good lord. It took inspiration from SH2 obv, but it executed it in such an original and nuanced way whilst still sticking with its strengths like it’s Live Action inclusion with Quantum Break, except more refined and not as sloppy as that was.
This is their magnum opus. It takes the universe storyline connecting, and supernatural powers that apply to the universe, and the live action inclusion, all of that together to make their masterpiece. This is an all time great game and imo, the best Survival Horror.
Apparently they’re working on Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes. And with the art direction they displayed here. Having those 2 remade with modern Remedy capability… HOLY FUCK, it will be peak action masterpieces. Can’t wait.
Remedy is the most underrated dev, but it’s fine by me. They can remain the unsung hero. Heck that’s what Silent Hill 2 is. RE4 always overshadowed it. So eh, all amazing quality. That’s what matters.

And no joke 2023, is a top 3 in gaming, PERIOD.
RE4 Remake, TOTK, Spider-Man 2, BG3(not a fan of personally but still), Diablo 4, Super Mario Bros Wonder, Dead Space, Final Fantasy 16 and ofc Cyberpunk 2.0, and Phantom Liberty which is literal perfection.
No debates, this is a top 3 gaming year no contest.
