This game is definitely a slow burn. The slow pace didn't bother me too much because the game does a really good job at building intrigue and getting you to like its characters. By the time the story kicks into full gear (which is like halfway through the game) it feels like it was worth the buildup. The game was still absolutely planting seeds for future games, so it can feel a but frontloaded with setup. I felt the ending was quite satisfying, and then the game hit me with a twist ending that genuinely hooked me for future games.
Gameplay wise this is like a turn based rpg crossed with an srpg. Battles play out in a grid and positioning affects what enemies you cam hit, who you can heal, etc. The combat can be a bit slow, but it is very satisfying.

Overall a great start for this franchise.
