Easily the best emulated way to play Sonic 1 (that way you're excluding the better 2013 mobile port). Faithful to a tee (but maybe a little too faithful at points) and provides some nice little extras such as an official re-release of the Mega Play version that help to make this a great way to play Sonic 1, but perhaps not the Switch port the fans wanted most.
