Despite the level design being the worst out of the original trilogy due to how it really goes a bit overboard on adding various gimmicks and enemies that are glorified obstacles, rather than trying to continue making levels that have a good balance of fun and hard, I still think it's a great game overall. It felt like a natural evolution of what the previous game established and expanded even further with its twists and ideas. I really like how open-ended the game's world is, being able to explore current and prior worlds and levels without having to pay a currency to backtrack along with how enjoyable collecting the various items needed to fully see what the game offers in every way. I imagine when it came out, people were probably a bit overwhelmed about the amount of stuff that had to be collected, but considering the next Donkey Kong game that came afterward, the collectibles here are probably a lot more reasonable now than they did when it was brand new. While not perfect and the weakest of the original DKC trilogy in a few remarks, I still had a lot of fun with the game, and I very much recommend giving this game a shot, as long as you've already beaten the other two games and are prepared to go into some rather questionably designed levels at certain points.
