It is wild that Gameloft somehow made such a fun kart racing game with cute character designs, solid track designs, and (mostly) fun music all reminiscent of the source material in great ways… and then somehow manages to ruin it all so thoroughly with the worst free-to-play systems I’ve ever seen in a video game.

I saw someone describe this as “a parody of free-to-play video games” and I honestly couldn’t possibly put it any better. More currencies that I could count and pointless systems that all exist only give the players more crap to unlock and more carrots on the ends of sticks.

It’s baffling that a game like this exists on consoles in the year 2023. What a waste. This game could’ve actually been a really fun Disney kart racer to play with friends and family.

+ Surprisingly not bad kart racing
+ Great-looking levels that capture the feel of the movies really well
+ Fun music remixes (mostly - some of it is actually quite bad)
+ Local multiplayer has all characters unlocked

- The worst microtransactions and F2P garbage I’ve ever seen in games
- More currencies than you can count
- Pointless crap to unlock that adds nothing to the game
- Literal pay-to-win mechanics where you can upgrade your racers to make them better
- Nonstop quips from your racer and every racer around you
