I heard mixed things about this one after finally getting around to playing it recently, I really enjoyed it.
The gameplay is definitely not as good as KH2 that's for sure and the command deck does hold the overall variety in combat back a bit in my opinion but it's certainly still very fast and satisfying, just not as varied as the previous game.
In terms of story, this was definitely one of the better stories in this franchise so far. It was very interesting seeing it unfold from the perspective of all 3 protagonist. Terra's playthrough is definitely my favourite in terms of story but I do think he's the least fun to actually play as. I think overall Ventus had the most enjoyable playthrough. He had a good balance of both an interesting story and fun gameplay. I also really like that the game ends on a tragic note instead of a typical happy ending.
One think I did not like however was that I had to grind a decent amount. In every characters playthrough I would always be a bit underleveled by the time a reached "Deep Space". Aside from that though I also had to grind to level up some of my commands a lot so I could meld better ones. This got pretty tedious especially near the end of the game.
Overall though, I really liked it and It's probably on par with KH1 for me, just for different reasons then that game.
