This is a game about an alternate Earth timeline where Apple took over the universe and Space Emperor Steve Jobs was assassinated, kicking off a cyber war involving revolutionaries and Steve Jobs loyalists. I lie, it's something about viruses clogging a supercomputer in the South Pole disrupting our futuristic way of life. Clearly a lesson about relying on technology too much disguised as a Battlezone-like.

I have to admit to something, I was browsing the Jaguar games on here to sorta choose my next opponent in the gambit, and I spotted the box art and description of this stating "I-War is a 3D virtual reality tank game. In each of the 21 levels, you must find all the data pods and make your way to the exit." Immediately I thought of an early PS1 title that I absolutely adored called Assault Rigs, which had gameplay very similar to the description and even used the same virtual reality gimmick.

Needless to say, it is indeed pretty similar. I-War runs at a shockingly nice frame rate for a 3D Jaguar game. I was actually kinda taken off guard upon going into gameplay and thought my emulator was running too fast for a while, because I was getting blown to smithereens faster than you can say "HELP I'M BEING ATTACKED BY POLYGONS!". Probably the hardest it's ever been so far to grab nice screenshots. I-War's worst problem is actually shared by the original Ratchet & Clank where it lacks a strafe option, meaning you'll have no choice but to tank shots with your tank constantly, and mindlessly trade with enemies. This basically makes the heavy tank the only good non-speedrunning option. Otherwise, it's.....probably decent? The soundtrack kinda slaps though, it's such a nice step up from the stone cold silence that I've been getting nailed by regularly with these games so far. It definitely beats the shit out of Cybermorph, I can tell you that much. Imagine if the Jaguar launched with this as a pack-in instead. It could've potentially actually made a dent in the public conscious.

I hate to turn this into an advertisement for Assault Rigs, but I'm turning it into an Assault Rigs advertisement, because really it's a ton better and it was apparently released only TWO MONTHS after this. I-War is impressive for Jaguar, but in the grand scheme of things.....I doubt anyone gave a damn about Jaguar now that the PS1 and Saturn had made their presence known by that point.

I-War? More like...I-Sore! Cause low poly is so ugly!! Eh? Eh? ¯\(ツ)
