ViviMayoi reviewed Blasphemous II
This is a great sequel; one that patched up pretty much everything the first game got wrong. More varied combat encounters, thanks to the three weapons and their differing playstyles. A lot of movement upgrades, to be used in fun platforming sections, something the previous game was lacking outside the Bloodstained collab.

Plus, Blasphemous 2's aesthetics are still refined and gorgeous, with delightful sprite art and background work to be beheld absolutely everywhere. The soundtrack, the sound design, the vocal performances all play their part in selling the game's tone.

Unfortunately, metroidvania fans may be a bit disappointed with one element: the game is much, much more linear. The abilities and equipment you find unlocks new areas for you in a rather strict order, which the previous game wasn't so adamant about enforcing. The experience is still good, too, but outside of 100% completion, the game feels more or less on rails. Combined with a story that is, to me, less gripping, the game does feel like it lost some charm along the way.

Still — the first game's main strengths are here, with renewed mechanics that make the game shine all the way through. This is a solid platformer, with interesting combat, fun movement, and a masterfully executed aesthetic.
