Forsaken managed to accomplish something that seemed impossible: taking a game that was seen as a complete and utter joke into something that would ultimately be one of the most successful on-going games of all time. The era of Forsaken was one of the most special times in the franchise's history as we saw so many things we had never seen before. I spend dozens of hours just roaming through the Dreaming City, in awe at one of the most beautiful and overall incredible locations in gaming history. I will never forget staying up past 5 A.M. to watch the greatest race for the greatest raid in all of Destiny, nor the shock when the events of that changed the world of the game.

The thrill of getting a new exotic during the Forsaken era was unlike that same feeling at any other point in the game. Everything seemed so out of reach, there was always something more to do, more to get, more to explore, on top of the first real example of a week-by-week evolution of the narrative that paved the way for the future of in-game storytelling in Destiny. Forsaken saved Destiny but also invigorated it, allowing a franchise that had always been so close, yet so far, to take great leaps towards the potential that everyone always knew it had.
