Age of Calamity impressively copies the Breath of the Wild style to the point where you might think you're not playing a Warriors game, but that disguise can only be put up for so long. I don't personally dislike musou games like how some vehemently despise them; I loved the original Hyrule Warriors and played it a ton. Age of Calamity does not scratch the itch that the first game does. It's pretty cool for awhile but by the end I was so desperate for it to be over that I almost stopped playing all together. It's not a bad game, but it feels more repetitive than it's predecessor, and that is likely just because of the smaller group of playable characters, some of which are very similar to one another. There are some pretty unique movesets for sure but I honestly didn't like playing as the majority of the cast and stuck to just a few characters. Most of them felt slow and weird and if you take the time to learn and upgrade them, of course they might be very strong but I was just so disinterested that I had no desire to do that. The story of the game is uh, okay. It's cool to have the characters from Breath of the Wild back in action, long before the release of Breath of the Wild 2, but for the most part what actually happens is pretty bland and was never very memorably for me. The game was certainly entertaining for awhile, but after about 30 hours I was sick and tired of it and was out as soon as the credits were done.

6/10
