If you've never played this before, it's honestly a bit more engaging than what you might expect it to be. As the first platformer ever, there's a multitude of absolute bare-bones basic things that are so standard in any platformer game that are not present in this, although a lot of them, such as the tiny height punishment and lack of momentum control, are done on purpose to balance the game's difficulty, which is honestly quite good. The first of the three main stages is by far the best, especially as you get to later levels; timing your jumps over barrels and strategizing where to stand and where to wait and how to not put yourself in a bad position requires way more thought than I was expecting something of that sort to and I honestly quite enjoyed it. The other stages have a very clear strategy even at harder difficulties and aren't as good but it is still satisfying to complete each stage as the game goes on.
