A bit mixed on this game. Absolutely an enjoyable experience, especially for the price, with some very unique elements that I can't say I've seen before. The biggest issue with Everhood is that there is so much that isn't fleshed out enough to make you truly care about it. I wanted to get attached to many of the game's characters that I liked off my first impressions but there just simply isn't enough substance to even be able to properly label them as 'good characters' apart from "they're kind of funny."

Everhood lacks a crucial level of substance that ends up making much of the game not feel very impactful at all unfortunately. I really wish it did more in that regard, because what is there is honestly really great. The pacing isn't the best and some segments are a bit of a pain but the core battle gameplay is pretty neat and the dialogue and structure does give the world enough life for me to have felt at least some level of investment in what was going on.

Absolutely worth playing through, I just wish there was more to well, everything. The 'combat' is unique and a pretty well-balanced difficulty, although as I see someone else pointed out already, there are some gaping flaws to it at times, wherein you can sometimes just stand in one of the five rows where significantly less notes are going and make a joke out of some of the encounters. I don't think this is that big of an issue because it doesn't make the game easy necessarily, but it does take some of the significance or I think intended difficulty out of certain segments.

7/10
