Far Cry 5 may not have revolutionized the series, but it certainly was a lot of fun. I got it at launch and spent over 100 hours playing it. A good percentage of these hours were dedicated to the map editor mode, which was a great game mode for me.
The map editor was incredibly creative and engaging. It was almost like having multiple different games within one. Players made lots of cool stuff with the level editor, and it added a lot of replay value to the game.

Hope County, the game's setting, was charming. It captured the essence of the American countryside beautifully. The open world felt expansive and well-crafted, with fun gameplay mechanics that kept me hooked.
The story was decent, and the antagonists were well-developed. Joseph Seed, the main antagonist, was a mysterious character whose charisma kept me interested in the story's progression. Faith Seed was another intriguing character, and her psychedelic missions added a valuable touch to the story. Every Far Cry has a mission where you are under the influence of psychedelics so... yeah.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this Far Cry but unfortunately, it seems like this was the last truly good Far Cry game, as the series took a downturn after this installment.
