A classic, aged, not like wine nut more like an old movie. still enjoyable but it drags in some parts. the main reason it gets this high of a grade is mainly for it's main character and my personal attachment to the series. The few problems stem from the balance of weapons and how the game goes on for just a bit too long. Everywhere from after the Punchinello manor to the Aesir building(great level actually) feels just a tad bit like the game is trying to pad itself out. It becomes a little bit more tedious as to how the only weapon to use is the Colt commando and all of your other weapons pretty much become obsolete compared to a simplistic assault rifle.

fantastic evolution of the Devil May Cry series. finally pits the focus of this action series with the action that we've come to know from this franchise. Evolving characters from previous entries into their best iterations, combining ridiculous ideas and mechanics with character backstory and motivation. Best action game of 2019 without a doubt. The story serves as mostly fan-service in the form of narrative, but that is fine, considering I'm a fan. However, just playing the combat and slowly mastering the characters is so worth it. All that stops me from 100% is the extra difficulty modes Heaven and Hell and the appropriately named Hell And Hell modes. That, and The Bloody Palace which will give you hours and hours of enjoyment trying to accomplish.

wasted potential, boring gameplay and open-world, elements not fully utilized, boring and lazy story, main character's backstory was trash and unsatisfying. I nearly finished it but couldn't be fucked to escape the god awful police to progress the story in the final mission. looked up the ending on YouTube, just as unsatisfying as I thought. Some decent music that is ruined by the gameplay and level design.
