By no means a perfect game but one that means a lot to me. While on the surface it seems like a generic hero's journey story with an anime like presentation, it's themes of memory, overpopulation and extreme nihilism (to name a few) and it's handling of subjects such as dissociative identity disorder make it stand out amongst other stories of its kind. The gameplay is a massive improvement upon the first's formula (with the exception of field skills which are conceptually sound but annoying to deal with) with a combat system that provides limitless customization options with a flow that naturally guides each move into the next. Fantastic protagonists and antagonists, and incredible OST, and a lot of visually stunning areas. A must play.
